For a large part of environmental analysis, hydraulic studies and Integrated Coastal Zone Management projects, the Company can rely on the ARS (Applied Remote Sensing) division.
Remote Sensing represents an instrument of “integrated” assessment, made-up by several inter-connected phases, such as data acquisition, digital and analogical elaboration, on site groundtruthing (an essential step for subsequent analysis), image interpretation and the direct control of interpretation keys.
It is also based on an multi-scale and interdisciplinary approach, because it provides data that can be investigated jointly by all the different science sectors (such as geology, geomorphology and archaeology) involved in the evaluation of the relationship between humans and environment in time.
The group can make use of sophisticated image processing software for the analysis of satellite images and the creation of thematic cartography.

Services relates to:

Territorial studies: image processing of remote sensing digital data, models and methodologies for environmental data gathering and elaboration, sustainable development plans, environmental impact assessment and risk analysis, land use and vegetation analysis though multitemporal and multisensor approaches (Landsat, ASTER SPOT, QuickBird).

Map publishing: photointerpretation of aerial and satellite images, digital thematic cartography from satellite image processing, pixel based and object oriented classification techniques, urban cartography.

Data management through GIS (Geographic Information System): spatial information organization and elaboration, environmental databases management, spatial and 3d analysis of classification techniques results, radar topographic datasets elaboration (SRTM DEM, ASTER DEM, etc.)
