MED INGEGNERIA’s Water Resources team has a deep knowledge and competence on design of hydraulic structures and specializes in the application of proven hydrologic, hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and sediment transport research and science to provide scientifically sound and cost-effective solutions to our clients. Complex problems of an interdisciplinary nature are addressed through close interaction with MED INGEGNERIA’s other practices.
Typical application fields:
• Surface water modeling activities: hydrology and water resources optimization planning; mathematical simulations of river hydrodynamics and water quality; vulnerability and inundation risk analysis; sediment transport and river morphology studies.
• Groundwater numerical modeling: coupled groundwater/surface water flow modeling: water resources management at the catchment scale; surface water and groundwater interaction; mass transport modeling: aquifer contamination by pollutants with different reactions of the solute (e.g., radioactive decay, biological reactions); density-coupled modeling for concentrated-dependent fluid density and fluid viscosity (e.g., saltwater intrusion problems); aquifer remediation.
• Hydraulic structures design: river flood protection structures; water control structures; dams for irrigation, power production, flood prevention; hydropower facilities.
• Drainage and irrigation engineering applications: agro-climatic and pedologic studies; analysis of crop water requirements; design of irrigation and drainage systems; design of phytodepuration cells; socio-economic analysis for agriculture development.
NUMERICAL MODELS The company has a deep knowledge and competence on standard software and supports the "state of the art" three-dimensional finite element codes developed by the University of Padua, Italy.
